    I continue to be amazed at how blatantly dishonest and unhinged this man is

    but even more amazed at how his supporters just nod along as if it all makes sense and that this guy represents any semblance of hope

      Biden has been a known quantity for over 50 years so it’s not surprising to hear him say this and he may even believe it.

      The only surprising thing to me about any of this is that pointing it out brands you as either a tankie or russian/chinese bot/shill; especially on lemmy.world; despite it taking less than 30 seconds on Google to confirm it.

        I often remember that 2015 poll that showed most USAmerican voters including Democrats are far more motivated by party affiliation vs. policy. It explains so much. When they see someone citing Their Guy’s actual words and actions, they’re unable to fathom that real actual humans give a fuck about these real-world issues and their consequences for other groups of people.

        That’s how you get anyone to the left of Reagan labeled “tankies” and “bots,” and how I’ve been called “privileged” while watching my own family arrested and deported, and a “fascist” for saying we shouldn’t put children in cages or commit genocide no matter how many people think we should. (Real things that terminally centrist status quo warriors on .world have called me.)

          That touches a particularly sore spot for me since I’ve also had to suffer under don’t ask don’t tell; doma; executive order 10450; inescapable student loans; tiktok law; EV bans; and the trump immigration policy that biden is expanding upon.

          Project 2025 isn’t scary when you’ve already experienced and survived it and I would prefer that no one else go through it; but when they refuse to listen that Biden has proven that he doesn’t give a rat’s ass and attack the messenger instead of the message; they’ll reap what they sow and I have a lifetime of experience I can fall back upon to survive like I did before; but this time it’ll be easier since I no longer have a family to protect thanks to those laws and policies I mentioned earlier.

            It looks to me like Project 2025 is a document compiling everything the Republicans have been openly wanting for decades. Democrats support a good portion of it as well, and I haven’t seen Biden doing anything meaningful to stop it, nor any sign that he intends to stop it, other than going “next term guys I promise” like Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown.
