Now if only his US contemporary could be similarly barred

Fairly certain Trump (or anyone else) would still be eligible to run even if he was convicted of the felonies he’s charged with.

Lava Jato’s mastermind hasn’t said a word about the jewels and other valuables Bolsonaro was gifted after selling a Brazilian refinery for millions below the market price.

        Not a single word.

So from what I read it’s just because the 7 people who voted had the majority against Bolsonaro? Or are the 7 non partisan? The article keeps asking for ads

When are you going to do the same to Trump?

Never. The Constitution only lists three qualifications for president:

      • 35+ years old
      • Natural born citizen (i.e. a US citizen at birth)
      • Lived in the US for at least 14 years

There have been arguments for a long time about removing the ones related to immigration because frankly they’re pretty pointless. But as for disqualification due to imprisonment, there have been cases of campaigns run from prison cells. They were really more a historical curiosity, but it was legally recognized.

If Trump did land in prison, he would almost certainly lose in either the primary or general. Most people just aren’t willing to put up with a criminal. Sure he can get his True Believers to think it’s all a big plot against him, but he has to win more than True Believers to reach the presidency. Then again, 2016 was seen by many people as a sure thing for Hillary Clinton, so I’m not calling for complacency.
