Communism is literally labour politics. If you don’t work, you probably don’t belong to the labour group. Usually because you’re a capitalist and you won a lottery (figuratively speaking) so you can have others working for you while you’re taking millions from their labour.

“From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs” is the literal slogan of communism. It references the working class and equity. No one’s getting anything for free under communism. There is still an economy in place. Getting things for free only applies to capitalist or if you live in a socialist world with star trek replicators.
