    Tragic but it’s heartening to see a country still trying to actually prevent Covid.

    My country has utterly given up. So much for all that rhetoric I grew up with about how determined are my compatriots in the face of adversity; they can’t even find the strength to wear a mask or stand a little bit back from other people in indoor busy public spaces.

    ‘If were living in a dictatorship I would simply singlehandedly overthrow the government because I’m of good Anglo-European stock’ apparently doesn’t apply if the dictatorship is forcing you back onto a train and into an office without opening windows or air filtration in the middle of a pandemic.

    If WWII were to happen again, the Nazis would definitely win unless a certain north eastern European state were to intervene. (Now I’m not sure which era I’m being sarcastic about.)

    I hope Uruguay’s plan works. The fact that they’re even able to have this kind of lockdown suggests there is a modicum of public support enough to pull it off. Good on them.
