Oh they are owning it alright. Many Kiwis do actually accelerate to catch Possums that are crossing roads with their car. Once I sat in a small town sports bar in NZ watching a rugby match and some farmer boys chased a possum into the bar and snapped its neck while around 100 people cheered them on.
