I don’t believe those articles saying that Israel have been defeated, while Palestine people still are dying and the West Bank is still being stolen. When Palestine came back to it’s pre 1947 territory, we can talk about how Israel have been defeated.

Totally fair, but it’s also true that Israel has gained nothing of significance and lost a lot from this war, not getting any of the objectives they set forth.

Unless the actual goal is genocide, in which case they are continuing to “succeed” every day.

The actual goal is genocide, any other stated justification is a lie. They’ve successfully killed tens of thousands, and are certainly going to attempt new settlements and permanent military rule in Gaza, unless the international community intervenes.

          Exactly my point.

The “official” reasons for this don’t make sense. So that only leaves deliberate genocide as the reason.

And mantaining a segregated state. These two cultures have occupied this same territory for over 2000 year. It really looks like the scummery of ancient civilization burns in the heart of this nonsense.

Of course different people have different goals. What you say is definitely true for some people in power.

Israel is defeated like the US was defeated in Afghanistan. It’s not that the Taliban managed to get tanks rolling through DC, but they killed our international image and took away prescious time, money, energy, and lives. They suffered magnitudes more than us, so just like in any war, there were no winners.

We keep saying “we don’t negotiate with terrorists”, but I’m starting to think that we should consider negotiating with terrorists*.

'*Understanding the definition of terrorist is very subjective

I can’t read the article as for some reason the archive website hates my vpn. I was able to read enough to grok it’s a pretty piss-poor take though.

Whining about “not completing the objective” is just gaslighting what the objective was/is, and complaining about being "internationally shunned"for committing fuggen genocide causes me to believe (at my most charitible) that this author hasn’t grasped the horror of what his country is still engaged in

The fear is never that the fascists will win, they won’t, it’s how many innocents they will manage to slay before falling.

The first casualty of war is truth. The author finally learned that. And then they learned that patriotism is a force for evil, at least often enough that you should fear it. What they didn’t say, and I think they are afraid to admit, is that many political and military leaders will always advocate for continued violence and genocide.

(And this is not a problem specific to Israel. You see this in war zones all over the world.)
