The events that have lead up to this are truly terrible but it is great to see people gathering in support of safer streets.

    People need to view this like gun violence. The only difference is theres no debate as to whether or not driving a car is a right guarenteed by the constitution. It should be EASY to solve this legally.

        My brain went straight to “things that could happen in Birmingham, Alabama.” I don’t know about UK law, but I don’t imagine driving a car there is a guaranteed right either

      Gun violence isn’t much of an issue in Birmingham, and there isn’t a constitution to guarantee these rights. I think the biggest issues are a lack of enforcement of existing laws (due to lack of funding to the police), minimal sentences for those committing these crimes, and no money for the councils to implement infrastructure based prevention.
