Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) urged Congress to pass Ukraine aid and warned that lack of assistance could lead to the embattled country facing the “worst atrocity in history.”
MANCHIN not only has a position that isn’t contrarian opposition to what Democrats are trying to do, but he’s passionate about it enough make statements like these? Is it April 01 already? Did he hit his head?
He’s not running for reelection anymore, so he’s not beholden to his masters.
Maybe he got a late visit from the ghost of Christmas future and realized he done fucked up
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
side-eyes Gaza
I think there are a few contenders…
At least Ukraine had been able to fight back. Russia’s genocide of Ukraine is a mere glimmer in their eye, a vanishingly remote hope.
The Israelis, on the other hand, may succeed in finally clearing all that land for settlement.
The atrocities in Gaza have been ongoing for years, at a slower rate, and there wasn’t much push-back.
Worst atrocity in history? Gaza? Don’t know much history, eh? How about the Holodomor? Hell, Genghis Khan massacred more people than that.
Yeah obviously “worst in history” is ridiculous. But Gaza is certainly worse than Ukraine, saying otherwise is asinine
Not to mention the world events that brought the Israeli’s to that region.
Americans are so easily led that they’ve completely stopped caring about Ukraine, cause CNN told them to look over here instead!
The Gaza situation has been going on for decades. Americans haven’t given a single fuck about it until they were told to, with convenient timing.
Doesn’t change the fact that the US has been supporting/funding Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and apartheid for decades since the 60’s
Yeah and none of you gave a shit, actually I very much remember post 9/11 y’all wanted Palestine nuked. Hell, the entire Arab and Muslim world. Suddenly y’all love Arab warlords!
Reminds me of my country, you Americans glassed my country to keep Russia out of the Americas, and after you killed half my people, you guys started calling us wet backs, and suddenly your politicians and media are bending over for Russia and willingly spreading its bullshit at home.
You guys will go insane for whatever narrative you’re being told to get outraged over
Your anger is definitely justified, American imperialism & Neocolonialism has and continues to devastate and exploit the Americas, Africa, the Middle East, and East Asia. I don’t support any of that.
Many Americans are duped by Manufacturing Consent done at the behest of Corporations and the Military Industrial Complex. America does everything it can to exploit nearly everyone, including its own citizens. Shout-out to Knowing Better, Hasan Poker, Noah Samsen, and GDF for good info critical of US policy and history.
I’m an advocate for a One-State Solution in Palestine with Equal Rights for both Israelis and Palestinians.
TIL that the US nuked Mexico… or called Japanese people “wetbacks” or something, not sure.
Keep playing ignorant to the atrocities of your nation
In case you’re not aware “glassed” means “nuked” and the only country that the US has nuked, not counting tests, is Japan.
Enlighten me. The US has done some fucked up shit but I’m pretty sure we never nuked Mexico.
Americans lost enthusiasm for Ukraine long before 10/7. Their was never a huge interest. Most Americans were nominally supportive of Ukraine, but it long ago stopped being top of mind.
Sorry Zionists, the days you could quietly cash our checks while you brutalize Palestinians without notice are over. But don’t worry. Butcher Biden’s got your back, and so does Trump. The American voter has never been particularly squeemish about crimes against humanity and war crimes.
I stop taking your view seriously when you call people Zionist. I know exactly what that dog whistle means.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) urged Congress to pass Ukraine aid and warned that lack of assistance could lead to the embattled country facing the “worst atrocity in history.”
Machin’s call for passing foreign assistance comes as the legislation has stalled in Congress while the Ukrainian military has been struggling with lacking resources and Russian troops advancing further.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has pressured Johnson to put the legislation on the floor.
President Biden and other foreign leaders have echoed similar messages as Johnson and other House lawmakers race to avert a partial government shutdown slated for Friday.
Manchin’s remarks ring similar to comments made by Democratic leadership in both chambers, as Kyiv supporters are pressuring Congress to pass assistance before this holiday recess.
But when asked if his remarks meant he is completely abandoning the idea, the moderate senator said, “I don’t know if anything in Washington, D.C., is 100%.”
