Maybe invest in teachers and education. Maybe treat education like a public good so the best and brightest of the less privledged can also contribute to a technological boom. Maybe divest from these stupid wars and invest in building a green infrastructure. But that requires planning for the future right? So anything but plan for the future.

    • Which is sad/funny because the American federal government really can’t run out of money. It could hypothetically run out of resources, sure, but US dollars can buy any raw material anywhere and even then the land we stole from the indigenous nations happens to be some of the most resource rich in the world. The government could easily spend tens of trillions to create bleeding edge infrastructure and simply chooses not to.

US government won’t build tech manufacturing facilities. It is ideological.

Private industry also doesn’t want to build tech manufacturing in US - not at a level that competes with China or other places in Asia.

China: Message understood, we will build our own fully independent tech stack including resources not under western control or subject to sanction in order to protect ourselves, our economy, and free trade we do with others.

Exports to China from US/west proceed to plummet

US: What the fuck? China isn’t playing by the rules, China isn’t trading with us, China won’t buy things from us, China is being hostile.
