I had Mullvad and the port forwarding was awesome but that is going away soon.
Ive tried to look around for the best vpns but I keep reading really mixed things so here I am hoping to get some answers for the best vpn for torrenting that has port forwarding.
I use Mullvad. No issues torrenting

I used to use this but then there was that whole thing about them being bought out by a shady company

They did pass a no logs audit though https://www.techradar.com/news/private-internet-access-aces-independent-audit-of-its-no-logs-policy
Also like PIA. Been using for 3-4 years. Hope the buyout didn’t leak all my data but haven’t found anything yet.
Another option is to go the other route and choose an alternative to your port forwarding, like Cloudflare Zero Trust, Tailscale, and maybe ZeroTier (not familiar with this one) - all can be used for free.
Despite being a mullvad user for some time, I’ve never used their port forwarding service, so I don’t know if it could fit your needs like mullvad did. But Cf tunnel lets me access specific ports in my homelab network from the internet, after authenticating, no matter what’s in between: so both my remote machine and home workstation can have their VPNs enabled and no knowledge about each other’s IPs.
AirVPN is a good option
I am looking for an alternative to mullvad and airVPN looks cool. I need to check more about them. Thanks for sharing this.
I’ve been a fan of both Mullvad and ProtonVPN for years. I ultimately went with ProtonVPN since it is included in my Visionary plan anyways. I did like Private Internet Access until they got bought by an adware company.
Anyways, ProtonVPN supports P2P and still has port forwarding. I’ve never had issues with the paid plan, but have heard of problems on the free tier.
Do you know if ProtonVPN supports port forwarding on Linux or via Wireguard? I have read it only works on windows. It’s between that and IVPN to replace Mullvad since they dropped port forwarding.
I believe that Proton does indeed allow port forwarding on Linux. https://protonvpn.com/support/port-forwarding-manual-setup/
I’ve been using AirVPN. Definitely went out shopping for something with port forwarding in mind
what was the use case for port forwarding? i use mullvad as well
Opens you up to more connections to seeds and such.
I use windscribe. Custom plan at $2 gives me access to ~20 US servers, unlimited data, and the speeds are usually around 6-10MB/s which to me is pretty good at that price point.
Windscribe here too.
Proton or Mullvad
Mullvad is losing port forwarding in July
IVPN
Ended up getting this and it works good. Thanks
how is the speed? I saw people complaining about It being slow
They’re removing port forwarding?
Yeah effective June 30.

They’re giving partial refunds if you email them.
Does torrenting still work without port forwarding?
Yes but you can only connect to people who do port forward. Also many private trackers will not allow you to participate.
