alt-text: there’s laundry to do and a genocide to stop. I have to eat better and also avoid a plague. my rent went up $150. I’ll need to pick up more shifts. Twenty people died in Rafah this morning and every major news outlet is stretching the limits of passive voice to suggest whole families may have leaped up through the air at missiles that otherwise had the right of way. I just got a notification that my student loan payments are starting up again and my phone isn’t charged. My cousin got COVID for a fourth time and can no longer work or walk or even feed himself. The person across from me on the L train seems to fashion themself a punk rock revolutionary, but they’re not wearing a face mask, and that’s the kind of cognitive dissonance that makes me want to steal batteries. Fascists keep winning primaries for both parties, and I think I gained a few pounds. The CDC just announced there are no more speed limits on highways, and I think this Ativan is finally hitting. The NYPD farmer’s market only sells bad apples, have you heard that one? Listen it’s warm today, too warm for March. But I don’t have time to think through the implications because there’s laundry to do and a genocide to stop.
Fascists keep winning primaries for both parties
Fuck off.
You’re in the right. Doomerism that “both sides are just as bad” is what Republicans want people to believe. Did Biden lead an insurrection? Not that I’ve heard of. Thinking both sides are just as bad is a childish perspective.
Both sides can be bad in my view. We are at a point of choosing the lesser of two evils.
One side is literal fascist and the other no longer represents us
They are bad though. On the one hand a Palestinian lost all 60 members of his family and several thousands died. On the other hand a Palestinian would have lost all 60 members of his family and several more thousands would have died. It is hard for that Palestinian to appreciate the difference and infinitely harder for his family to appreciate the difference.
Biden is pushing for a ceasefire and sanctioning settlers, while Trump said that Israel should “finish the problem”.
If you consider a Palestinian who hasn’t lost their family yet, there’s a pretty obvious difference between the two candidates.
What you are saying is an atrocity; I agree with you wholeheartedly. Regardless, I will still be voting against the person who led an insurrection and who paved the way for women to lose their rights to bodily autonomy in Roe v Wade. It’s an easy choice.
@chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world
Once again and louder, for this idiot.
Although your best option is Biden and I wouldn’t say otherwise even as someone not receiving any benefits from his good internal policies, Biden still is a fascist.
He has been a practical one, by which I mean he mixes good domestic stuff with genociding halfway across the world, whereas the Orange Jello is a principled one, having done and still aiming to very bad domestic choices and genocidal fascism at both domestic and international domains.
So yeah, fascists keep winning primaries for both parties, but you still have a choice to pick the international fascist over full-time fascist.
international fascist
“Fascisms is when you kill people!”. Joe Biden is a lot of things that leftists do not like, neoliberal first among them. Saying he’s a fascist is absolutely asinine and has no basis in reality. You’re watering down terms that have clear definitions.
Right? Sure, Biden is a milquetoast, but he’s not spilling hate speech or mandating violence on minorities. Sure he’s complicit in the genocide, but there’s nothing he can really do.
Sure he’s complicit in the genocide, but there’s nothing he can really do.
Lol I hope this is a joke because it’s a good one.
[handing fresh magazines to a school shooter] yeah sorry kids there’s nothing I can really do, it’s a complicated world out there you know
Nothing at all. Just keep supporting everything Israel does, keep blocking any resolutions helping the Palestinians at the UN, keep funding the genocide. No, nothing at all he could do about any of that.
He can stop selling weapons to Netanyahu. He can stop running interference for him at the UN.
Reminds me of Matt Buchele (mattbooshell) 's video “disorienting times”. Bouncing between atrocity on social media and you boss wants you to fix a typo on slide 3.

The insta that followed that one for me was this one, and this is singularly the most legendary thing I’ve ever seen another human being do
Could you give context for us who would rather not go to a facebook site please?
I will describe it, literally.
A man on a tiny motorcycle with a microwave on his head, closed covering his face, comes to a screeching halt in front of the camera, opening the door as he does. This reveals his face and a complicated mechanism to keep it on his head. He stands using the momentum of the motorcycle to propel him up and says, angrily “I know a lot of you hatin’ motherfuckers want me to fail, but guess what? It ain’t happenin! You know why? Cuz I got a motherfuckin microwave on my head!” He leans over to close the door, remounts his tiny motorcycle, and scoots away in to the city.
I have no idea what this is meant to mean, but thank you for going to the effort of typing that all out XD
You can’t fix it. Turn off the news. Go for a walk.
It’s true that everything is shit. But everything has always been shit, whether you cared about it or not. And we’re all still here.
The only difference between caring and not caring is that now you’re miserable and anxious. And there’s still nothing you can do.
Living in ignorance is hardly healthy though. You’ll only be caught flat footed when the bad shit finally catches up to you. How long that takes is a matter of luck and privilege, for some people it’s sooner rather than later.
Sure, but if you can’t compartmentalise the stuff that effects you from the stuff that doesn’t, then it’s not worth sacrificing your mental health over most of it.
More importantly than the stuff that affects you is to focus on the things you can change. A friend of mine was in AA, which is a whole can of worms that I’m not going to delve into, but one thing I really like was the Serenity Prayer. I’m an atheist, but I like the thought anyway. It goes
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Do what you can, so when the end comes you know you did your part. Go vegan, ride a bike, vote left, shop ethically. It does a lot to curb the unease.

Very reminiscent of this poem
Before I click, I’m going to guess “Whitey On The Moon”?
Edit: Did not disappoint. I wanna give credit where credit is due.
Exactly what I thought too

Reads like alt right zoomer doomer bullshit justifying that they aren’t brainwashed by their republican family lol.
Wales Visitation cadence sells it
There are no more speed limits on highways? What does the Center for disease control have anything to do with regulating speed limits on federal /county/states/whatever highways?
It’s hyperbole.
But everything else in his rant was real.
ITT: people angry at the suggestion both parties are fascists on opposite ends of the spectrum
Because the mental laziness of suggesting that conservatives are the same as liberals is literally destroying the world.
But nevermind that. bOtH sIdEs
Liberals and liberalism are conservative, both sides are not the same but they aren’t as far apart as they should be.
I’ve heard this bullshit before. Keep peddling it elsewhere
K
Opposite ends of what spectrum? Where are the left leaning candidates in America?
Bernie.
Bernie is a Social Democrat. He still wants Capitalism, he’s a centrist at most.
How many left leaning policies has he passed?
I think you mean “voted for”, he isn’t Congress, and therefore doesn’t pass bills, unless you suggest that only passed legislation makes someone one particular political wing, in which case, I’d argue that seems like a deeply flawed understanding of government.
My point was that there’s no left wing representation in any meaningful positions of power in the United States. Obviously.
Was it obvious? Because it seems “obvious” to me that you moved the goalposts. If someone points to a senator or representatives at the federal level, you’d point to the lack of left-wing legislation they passed. That’s goalpost moving. Would you like me to point at non-federal positions so you can say they aren’t meaningful in spite of their passing of left-wing policies that affect my state or city? Also, I’ll give you a hint, all of those politicians are NOT one of the two major parties.
The point is that one party is definitely different from the other, especially if you’re queer, pregnant, able to become pregnant, a child, elderly, working, or a racial minority.

Fascism is purely on the right, it’s a violent entrenchment of Capitalist power.
That’s because they’re not, they’re fascists on the same end of the spectrum.
Because if they’re fascists they are not on opposite ends of the spectrum. The text is saying that Democrats produce fascists as well, because many Democrats enact what in regular life would be firmly right wing policies.
Because the Dems are the left wing in a bipartisan system, leftists hold the Dems to a higher standard. Likening them to fascists when they enact right wing policies against the will of the actual leftists forced to vote for them is a valid position.
There would have to be actual left wing candidates to begin with. Until then, they might be in different parties but they are firmly on the same end of the spectrum.
