My instance is https://lemmy.dbzer0.com. I am wondering if I set up something wrong in my config, or it’s just a matter of time until we’re listed.
Hmm looks ok here: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/api/v3/site
Not sure what is going wrong. Maybe open an bug report on the website’s issue tracker.
Thanks for checking! I don’t want to unnecessarily pester them. They do say to just be patient…
Yes, but since Friday it does update hourly automatically, so it is very likely a bug.
oh, I didn’t know that. I’ll ping them then
The PRs seem like a mixed bag of updates but I did find this one that is PR to add a site to the recommended list: https://github.com/LemmyNet/joinlemmy-site/pull/171
So it looks like sites are supposed to be added to the main list automatically, you need a PR to add them to the recommended section.
this is for recommended instances. I’m not aiming to be recommended tbh, I’m happy to remain smaller.
Yup, I just realized as I dug deeper and then updated my comment.
Same - I’d just like to be on the list to help take the load off the bigger servers.
I’m in the same boat - server has been up for 24 hours, not on the list. Happy to take on more users to spread the load.
Can you please let us know what you find out?
ok so from what I can see, this is not automated in any way. It still relies on people sending pull requests to this repo and hardcoding recommended instances this way: https://github.com/LemmyNet/joinlemmy-site/pulls
Appearing on the popular instances list is automated. Only the recommended instances list is manual.
How’d you get so many users so quickly?
paid bots of course!
I kid, I kid. I run reddit’s /r/piracy, so I redirected its users to my instance during the blackout
damn nice. love that subreddit.
!piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com then ;)
Won’t that just split the community?
haha. nice. ill join. i run my own instance but gotta support one another!
Nice. Honestly I only started this because lemmy.ml admins said that they’re going to get overloaded.
yea thats why i started mine as well. i got mine set up on a beefy server
I got mine on a shitty frontend and a beefy DB :D
I see you mod the other lemmy piracy community. Are the largely the same? Are you planning to focus on the new one? I follow both, but just wanted to ask
Our instance has grown 600 users in a week, and I’ve done literally nothing to advertise it. I think you get crazy growth whether you want it or not
Yes, atm I’m content not advertising it and keeping things organic to ensure the instance stays fast. I just am concerned that I have a bad config somewhere
