Hey everyone :) I’d like to organize a small tournament for lemmy users. Would anyone be interested in joining? And would you be interested in a specific time format or format? Like would you prefer a one time event or a league format etc

Hello, there :) I think that would be awesome. I’ve joined lemmy a couple of days ago and from what I’m seeing I think that we should do our best to shake things up a little bit around here.
As for the format it probably depends on who joins and how many, but even arranging a one-time blitz tournament would be a cool achievement.

Back on Ruqqus (defunct Reddit alternative), someone organized a chess tournament where he created an image of a bracket system. Everyone had 1 day to find and play their match (I think it was 10+0), and he posted the new image on the next day.
Doing it in this format grew a lot of attention as the matches went on too, since there was a new post and new comments each day
That sounds like a fun system! I’d give it a shot - let’s hope for some more people joining :)
If you end up doing it, post a signup thread and link it in some bigger communities. Not many people know about or will find /c/chess if it’s only linked here
