did this once rn and just noticed how pricey it can get outside the us, heres hoping it gets better by the time i need a new computer.

i think the last thing the framework needs to be a true killer is 3rd party adoption of their standards, like aibs and such. is this too much of a pipe dream?

I don’t believe in pre-ordering, so I bought a framework from the ships immediately pile. I was in your situation, my last laptop had died and i needed a new one. I just speced out “good enough”, and ordered. I’m still quite happy with my framework 13.

It’s already pretty hard to get new. I doubt I would be able to find one used where I live. But then again I hope this pricing/availability issue is solved soon.

Haha you’ve got me there, I’ve done it maybe 3 times now. I keep saying it’s definitely going to be my next laptop, but I can’t justify it quite yet.

I CAN justify it… But still myself needing something that they don’t just offer which takes them out of the running unfortunately. And yes, I load up the DIY tool just to make sure it’s not there yet every time someone in my house needs a new laptop.

Too many times to admit. I even had a order in but cancelled. I just can’t excuse myself that kind of money.

And I’m a freelance IT dude!

I’ll check once a year to see if they finally added a decent OLED display option with 100% DCI-P3 coverage. Since that has never come true, I never bothered going any further.

Are there any good OLED laptops on the market? I just checked the Framework forums and it looks like people are hacking OLED displays into their existing laptops but yea, that’s definitely not for me

Lots of them actually. It’s not that niche anymore. In my experience, ASUS generally has the nicest ones… & they offer OLED on even midrange laptops (good marketing idea IMO since it’s gonna look nice in a show room & it’s just looks nice so it feels nicer). The BIOS upgrades with them has always been safe & easy, but their Linux support is just mid (they don’t go out of their way to help support or anything).

Twice - One time to get a quote, the second time for the actual order when i was ready.

Coolest non-Apple laptop on the market. Want to buy, but it’d get no use after the first week. Jealous of Linux users who get to justify these.

About a dozen times, to daydream and check if it’s available on my country. My laptop is on its last days

I just did for the first time and I’m not sure what I was expecting, but kinda spendy. A good UI for designing it though.

I’ve gone about 15+ times on my own, a lot more just to show friends. I still haven’t bought mine, my thinkpad still works fine which is both good and bad since I really want a frame.work
