A team of 4 people from the Fediverse and I are working on a “federated” Minecraft server if I dare say.

The goal would be to have a proxy with a central lobby that would redirect to dozens of servers maintained independently by instances or users of the Fediverse, all scattered around the world!

The project is already underway: minefra.me. What do you think about it? Join us!

Even then, it’s been done for years on end. It’s not a new concept and is actively in practice.

Does it have to be a new concept?

Curious that he made this kind of post some time ago … https://lemmy.ml/post/75726

He’s just a Minetest fan who is going to discredit anything and everything about Minecraft, am I wrong?

There’s not a single mention of Minetest by them in this thread. Even if they’d discredit everything, it’s a logical fallacy to think they’re wrong just because they hold views you don’t agree with.

          That’s called the genetic fallacy.

Can you provide sources to that statement? Would love to learn more.

I am no longer in the Minecraft communities so it’s not easy for me to source anymore but typically there are networks that will happily links their BungeeCord or similar instances up to your servers. If not have in game means of creating “servers” or “worlds” on the fly. Those are normally called Player/Sub Servers or Player Worlds.
