  • Dev bounty: Generate gitea private keys
  • Find individuals & orgs to support grant application and/or federation in Gitea
  • Facts / articles that demonstrate the popularity of Gitea
  • Where to advertise the effort towards federation?
  • First grant application must be sent before October 1st, 2021 for the @NGIZero Discovery call

I guy pointed out that GitLab’s weakness was that it was hosted on Amazon servers. Maybe one of you tech-gurus can post info about how us tech-tards can know which sites are hosted by which servers. I’d like to avoid those. Also, which are influenced by PayPal or other payment sites (whether they like that over site or not, they still have the possibility of being controlled by payment companies like Visa or Mastercard, etc).

This is not always easy to tell, and requires investigation on a site-by-site basis. Sometimes you find such info in official blogs or other articles. Sometimes other devs run discover via their use or tools that they run. One way you sometimes can tell is by looking at cookies that are present on the website. They point to e.g. Cloudflare or Google domains, and you know the software uses stuff you’d like to avoid. Note, that the subject is a bit off-topic for this post.
