A nice small addendum would be that creators who crosspost from e.g. Youtube advertise their TILvids page on their main channel, even discretely in the “about” page.
It took me looking for TILvids in the Twitter follows of a couple of creator to be convinced that their content on TILvids was not a ripoff.
This comment works for peertube in general, when browsing SepiaSearch I always have this fear to end up watch some content stolen from Youtube
There are creators such as the attic dwellers, anthill art and others who upload their content directly on TILvids.
There are also content uploaded to TILvids with permission from the creator.
Oh I know that. My comment is about how hard it is to convince oneself that it is indeed the case, when it would be enough to just add one line on their about page on Youtube.
The Attic Dwellers are a perfect example, being active on both Youtube and TILvids and yet not having a mention to that in their about page.
This is something I’ve constantly struggled with. I frequently get “THIS GUY IS JUST RIPPING OFF YOUTUBERS!” when I have painfully gone through and vetted almost every single creator that is either posting their content to TILvids or that we re-post (with their permission). It sort of underscores the main problem I have with PeerTube right now, that it’s just the wild-west of content, and I’m really trying to legitimize it a bit.
I wish I had a better solution. I think it’s something that will just take time.
Indeed I don’t see what more can be done on your side, I really think it’s the creators who should officially endorse their TILvids channel on their other media.
