You’re right. Just look at what has happened with Google and Microsoft. Google was replaced by Baidu and now Google no longer has much relevance in China. In the case of Microsoft, the US had frictions with the Chinese Communist Party and they decided to start migrating from Windows to GNU/Linux (a Chinese distro called UOS Linux, based on Deepin, which in turn is based on Debian).
These anti-china embargos are really short-sighted, but you’re right, its a wonderful side-effect that now we’re getting more FOSS hardware and software development from china as a result.
