    This probably happened when it wasn’t so easy to download content and not anyone had a computer to do so, mostly in third world countries. Also yes, pirated goods like fake clothes are a really important income for a lot of poor people or for poor people who can’t afford buying original brands. In my country for example a lot of immigrants live of selling these kinds of goods.
