    Based and grassroots pilled ✊️

Okies if I ever do I will 😊

In terms of what I write it’s a mixed bag, whatever my addled mind decides I want to express:

    • edm like hard bass and drum and bass (obviously, I’m trans after all, that’s like just what we do)
    • atmospheric black metal
    • Post rocky stuff
    • some pop punk derived stuff, like Blood Comand if you’ve ever heard them? (Ctrl art delete is a tune!!! If you haven’t)

I’d love to get into breakcore but I’m yet to find the motivation 💀

Hell yes! I love metal, though usually more on the noise end. I’ve never heard of Blood Command, but I’ll give them a listen, thanks for the recommendation <3

I swear I’ve heard noise metal before, got any good examples I might recognise?

        Don’t mention it 😊

Black Dresses (more noise pop, but deep metal influence), Rook, Crisis Sigil (grindcore), Backxwash (rap-metal, but still), Thou (sludge), Vile Creature, Uboa

(These are all trans musicians as well, for that added queer-core traumascape)

My top recommendation for Backxwash (who just had a new album come out this past week) is to listen to the EP Black Sailor Moon, especially the song aesthetic.

Black Dresses, I would recommend Waste Isolation as an intro, especially the songs Thoughts and Prayers and Wiggle.

Rook, I recommend either UGLY DEATH NO REDEMPTION ANGEL CURSE I LOVE YOU (my top album of 2022) or 2,020 Knives (my top album of 2020) with the songs An Ocean (2,020 Knives) and Tru U and Xanalfague (ANGEL CURSE) getting special mention.

Crisis Sigil…if you don’t know grindcore, prepare to have your face melted I guess lol.

                furiously takes notes

Oh I’m well aware of grindcore 💪

Okies but you’ve got to listen to “built on ashes” and “blood in the river” by Zeal and Ardor for me 🥺👉👈

Alright, so first off, didn’t expect to be sent to Norway on this musical tour. Blood Command (listened to Ctrl + Alt + Delete) sounds like Billy Talent, and I used to fucking love Billy Talent when I was a wee lass. This is, in fact, my cup of tea, and I will be listening to more.

Oh my god, this one is Swedish. Are you ashamed of brit music or what? lol, anyway, so listening to Zeal and Ardor, “Built On Ashes” has some really nice trashy guitar, and then it’s like, Lifehouse’s vocalist has melded with Imagine Dragons.

“Blood in the River” is even more Imagine Dragons. It has a really fun beat, that chain is a good percussion. Halfway through it gets this intense energy going on that is pretty cool. When the kick goes wild and the scream comes in I really like that. Not as much my jam these days as Blood Command, but I bet a decade ago I would have been super into this. Would still probably listen to an album (I’m not really the type to just listen to a song, I prefer hearing an album in full).

                  Thanks for the suggestions!!

Yeah Blood Command are great, my favourites are from the same EP as Ctrl Art Delete. They are apparently death pop 🤔 but honestly a lot of their newer stuff is just pop punk so I’m not really interested but the heavier stuff i adore.

Lmao have you heard British indie? It’s horseshit, nah there’s some good bands and good British musicians but most of my tastes don’t seem to be massively represented in British music, WAIT THIS ISNT TRUE! Svalbard are fucking amazing, Welsh metal band, female fronted, punk meets atmospheric Black metal. So good. Give “Open Wound” a listen if that tickles your fancy.

Okay zeal and ardor are an interesting one. The singer is black and half swiss half American I believe. Born in Switzerland but grew up in the States. Zeal and ardor is essentially, why did slaves adopt the same religion as the white Americans? What if slaves in the South instead adopted satanism (bringing the black metal elements into the foreground) instead and thats the vibe. He did an interview on it in greater detail basically explaining how he’s seen so much bigotry and discrimination growing up in NYC that it didn’t make sense that in his eyes, slaves would adopt the same religion etc. I don’t want to misrepresent what they said as I don’t remember it word for word but it’s quite the passion project for him based on experiences he had with white people growing up in the states after a childhood in Switzerland.

Built on ashes is one of there most radio friendly songs and blood in the river is just a slapper but “Row Row”, “Gravediggers Chant” and “Come on down” are fucking sick as well.

I won’t get a chance to listen to your suggestions till later but rest assured I will and gush my response back when I do 🥰
