All kinds of Korean music from all parts of Korea welcome :) You can also ask for recommendations. I am personally not a super knowledgeable person about music but here is some Korean music I like.

Some mostly 90s music from south Korea with somewhat of a folk style and lefty connotations:

• 꽃다지- 민들레처럼 + 노래여 우리의 삶이여 - a pair of songs, first one is “Like a Dandelion” about living like a dandelion and never giving up the struggle
• 바위처럼 This one is pretty popular afaik and reminds people of the democratization student movement
• 경의선타고 (live version) “Let’s take the Gyeongui line” song about the old train line that ran from Seoul to Pyongyang and the desire to revive it
• 희망새 1집 Song about remaining hopeful
• 사계 Song that mimics the feeling of working in a textile factory/sweatshop
• 일요일이 다 가는 소리 “Sound of Sunday Ending” - about the feeling when the weekend is over and everyone has to go back to work
• 들어라 양키야 performance of “Listen, Yankee”
• 꽃병을 만든다 “Making a Flower Vase” - it’s about making Molotov cocktails

Traditional folk music and folk-influenced music:

• 아리랑 (Arirang), if you do not know about Korean traditional music, I recommend you learn about Arirang, it has many versions and is basically considered the song that represents Korea. There are many lovely versions of it you can find :)
• 유지나 - 꽃타령 Flower Taryeong. I just find it very catchy. Here’s a more emotional and intense version: 김영임 - 꽃타령
• 군밤타령 - Roasted Chestnut Taryeong. This is a fast version of it that I just find really fun lol. 송소희 version is also nice and more chill. Here’s another fast one from DPRK.
• 범 내려온다 by 이날치 - Funky traditional/modern music plus cool dancing in video
• ADG7: Tiny Desk Traditional music with modern flair
• SsingSsing: Tiny Desk Traditional music with modern flair and cross dressing/channeling both male and female spirits

Other:

• 15만 평양 시민들의 떼창 “다시 만납시다” - 150,000 Pyongyang citizens sing “Let’s meet again”
• 이랑 - 신의 놀이 / Lang Lee - Playing God - I really like the video that goes with this song. Try to guess what the people in the video are acting out. (This will show you what they were doing)
• 이랑 (Lang Lee) - 환란의 세대 (The Generation of Tribulation)
• 이랑 (Lang Lee) - 늑대가 나타났다 (There is A Wolf)
• 백현진 - 빛 - Just kind of a slow jazzy song I like
• We Will Go to Mount Paekdu - Just such a catchy song.
