That last line is precisely why I drive an older wagon. All the carry shit of an SUV and then some, plus I can camp in the back, better mpg, I can reach the engine bay without a step stool, and I can avoid running over children. Mine even has AWD, so what would I ever want an SUV for. I hate SUVs. I had a newer SUV as a rental after a recent accident, and I hated that thing! I felt so unsafe in it. Sure, I would survive most any impact I was prone to, but I care about the safety of those around me as well. I was terrified I’d hit a pedestrian. I was so happy to get back in a car sized car.
