Also within british culture there’s a sort of “nobody criticises where I live except me” attitude. I’ve seen people who regularly say they hate the town they’re from suddenly become stauch defenders of it when someone from the next town over dares to say anything bad. They can’t inject that shit from americans it has to come through brits or the natural reaction to it most will have is defensive.
