If you ever tried to use Instagram for your photos you probably thought - “wow this sucks, I wish there was something like instagram but actually respected my photos”.
Well Pixelfed is that. It’s inspired by Instagram but it doesn’t crop your photos, has fullscreen view and native desktop experience — all of which federated and decentralized!

It also integrates nicely with Mastodon via ActivityPub so you can follow back and forth. Mastodon also has some photography communities such as #tokyocameraclub with some great photographers there, e.g https://mstdn.tokyocameraclub.com/@takaharu_mukai
Great photos! I’ve actually been thinking of starting a photo blog but pixelfed had me covered for almost everything I wanted in a photo blog.
There’s also another photographer community on mastodon called https://photog.social (my profile) that has been my favorite mastodon community so far!
