I was a user of reddit for over a decade, using BaconReader nearly every single day. Now my account is deleted out of principle.
Losing 3rd party apps is a big concern about the future of the site, but if I’m honest, it was the straw that broke the camel’s back - the site had been morphing into a corporate-friendly version of twitter for years now, and I look forward to being rid of it.
I’m not sure if lemmy will be a perfect or full replacement - but even already I feel more connection and less astroturfed here than I have on reddit in years.
