What about those in prison who are chronically ill or people who caught something while being stuck in there? Surely they would have it far worse than those ill people in a regular hospital who, technically, can refuse treatment, leave, and even go elsewhere for treatment. That’s not considering the support structures that people in prison are given/allowed, vs support structures generally present in a hospital setting.

Your feelings of being trapped are valid. The frustrations of a less than ideal physical existence are heard. Being ill in any location truly sucks. But depending on the location, you may have more or less freedom and opportunities available to you.

They don’t care about the homeless so they don’t care that those poor people will still be homeless somewhere else. The rich just no longer have to see the unhoused -out of sight out of mind- as they say. Then since they’re now out of mind, they don’t have to fix or offer viable solutions for homelessness. The rich hope those poor people die as they’re deemed morally terrible people who are there directly because of their own failings. Plus it makes more slave labor available for today’s private prisons across the nation.

She talks about laughing on some podcast but I can’t remember which one. Anyway, she said that most comics don’t really haha/laugh out loud at great jokes, but will simply say that’s a great joke with approval. So being the host on tv she is having to train herself to laugh at loud at things. The show is scripted and the footage cut up post filming so some people/contestants are funnier but they couldn’t air it or their words were tempered by the writers/editors. While a simple solution for a popularity contest, it has great drawbacks when looking for techique comparison. Someone’s family may be bigger or louder than others, some people may have more fans in the audience, who can afford to attend will skew the vote, being an international event would mean that it’s likely the home team has the advantage as people from the host country have a greater opportunity to attend, some event crowds may be determined by time of day or by public transportation, and the audience may not see the whole (5 hour breakdancing) event and certainly won’t see the performers as well/as close as the judges would. Additionally the audience has so many new viewers during the Olympics that don’t know how hard certain moves/sequence of moves are while some easy flashy moves will wow a crowd every single time. None of those things show particularly compelling qualification to determine how technically good the performer/performance is.

I don’t think he can because the RNC already happened making him the party’s nomination. The DNC hasn’t happened yet so the Democrats were able to switch candidates before they meet to nominate.

Also had a great sense of relief when mine was taken out. That wonderful absence of that particular pain was exquisite! It does kinda create the illusion of soapy bubble filled white water. If you change thinking about the ‘white water’ section to actually be the see through part in between clear round water droplets (the ‘bubbles’) that are clinging to the side of the container.

If one were to ignore the getting a position part, other changes include but are not limited to:

-an increase in people killing teachers/students/staff at nearly all levels of learning institutions. It’s not limited to the US and guns either (although they do make up a large portion).

-an increase in students showing outright disrespect or violence in a classroom to anyone but especially authority figures.

-due to the pandemic many teachers/staff died or retired, so there was a loss of guidance/mentors/knowledge as well as changes in policy/how things function.

-the abysmal shift in school work accessability during the pandemic created a general lack of knowledge/routine that would have formerly taken place during that time period. This means instead of being able to teach roughly the same curriculum for each class/each semester as one may have done for years, one must instead rework the course for a few grade(s) lower to accommodate the difference or fail a lot of kids that don’t have home support. (Additionally some teachers were already having to incrementally adjust curriculum each year since the No Child Left Behind Act was enacted).

-teachers/professor have been villainized in recent years by politicians and general pay/funding/grants have decreased (or rather never increased as the years changed).

-tenure tracks are going away in some places.

-the school or university could simply shutdown for numerous reasons in the middle of the semester with little to no notice given staff/teachers/students.
