I just got back from vacation and am facing a complete lack of motivation for work this week and have been dreaming of RE. Interestingly, I’m somehow comforted by this feeling. It was how I felt most of my career, but recently started being complacent with my work situation. Not because it is great, but because I think part of me had finally succumbed to the fact that I have to and that made me stop dreaming. Now I’m dreaming again.

Thanks for setting this up! I was planning to create a lemmy FIRE community if one didn’t exist.

As I’ve succumbed to lifestyle creep over the past decade, I’ve been about 10 from being FI for roughly the last 10 year. I go back and forth between wanting to RE and simply seeking FI. I recently started a new role that has me shifting toward RE, but am not sure I ever want to completely stop working. A sabbatical might be in the cards in a year or two though.

Anyway, glad to have discovered this community!

I’m currently reading Lonesome Dove. It’s an easy read. It took some time to get into, but now that I’m half way in, I hope it never ends.
