This is happening for me as well, as soon as I open the app :( also on Android. May try uninstalling/reinstalling to see if that helps

EDIT: That seems to have helped! My app is working again now, either way :)

EDIT 2: I guess I spoke too soon :( app is semi functional but still getting timeout errors pretty frequently on both my instance accounts

    • My Brother, My Brother and Me - love my sweet boys
    • Adventure Zone - see above ^
    • Glass Cannon Podcast - excellent Pathfinder Actual Play, very very funny guys
    • Dungeons and Daddies - chaotic good D&D (not a BDSM podcast)
    • Roll for Friendship - an amazingly silly Quest RPG podcast

It’s no longer running but I also loved Idle Thumbs (video game discussions and bird noises). I guess I listen to a lot of RPGs, in retrospect!

  • If you swipe slightly right it’ll upvote, and a swipe further right will downvote; if you do it slowly you can see the animation and color to the left of the post changes. Right now the way it’s coded there’s some lag between your swipe and the vote count changing, which the dev said he hopes to address soon!

There was also some talk of toggleable voting arrows as an alternative to swiping, but I don’t know the timeline on that right now :)

Another one I forgot to mention was another feature from Boost - that app also has the up/down arrows to let you quickly navigate the parent threads on a post’s comment view, with the handy additional feature that long-pressing on the up arrow zooms you back up to the top of the page. Always appreciated that feature!

  • I love the compact look! Feels like you’re showing just the right amount of info here. My two questions/thoughts:

    • How does voting work in that view? (I’ll admit I haven’t logged in to Thunder yet so I’m not sure how voting works in-feed using the default view, if that’s possible)
    • could there be an option to put the thumbnails on the right side?

Honestly I really like Jerboa’s list view with the voting arrows on the left, but your compact view looks even classier since you iconified a few things that they currently represent with words. Excited to try your compact view once it’s been implemented!

  • Not the original commenter, but very intrigued by your app and a HUGE fan of Boost, especially its compact mode. Adding some screenshots here in case they provide inspiration!

^ happens when you long-press a community name while in your main feed - being able to hide communities/posts/users through a long press menu (without clicking through) is my absolute top Boost feature

Looking forward to checking out your app, thanks for making it!

  • Very pretty! I like Lem (and also Slice, which another user suggested) for names, if you’re still mulling that over.

One thing that I’m missing from Boost for Reddit that isn’t implemented in Jerboa is the ability to long press parts of a post to access handy quick-access menus - being able to long press a post’s community or user and have the option to subscribe or block without clicking through is super handy! That and a good compact mode where there’s enough padding to accurately click the thing you want to click would be my two wishlist items (/pain points currently with Jerboa).

Either way, hope to see you on the Play Store at some point, and thanks for being part of the community!
