I haven’t seen a developer of the third party apps complain about there being a price at all, just that the price is too high given how much a user costs reddit itself, and how tight the timeline is given at that price. And yeah he basically just said “well we were gonna do it at some point, so why not now?”

I think the issue is that he’s saying that he is “willing to talk” but Christian said many times that he feels he’s talking to a brick wall. So how can he feel comfortable having discussions when those discussions might not happen until after he starts getting charged prices that he wants to talk about?

For some reason spez doesn’t get that and it’s really annoying to see him talk about how they’re the only company in town offering free lunch, no one is asking for that.

this is what’s funny to me as well. The website was basically unusable on mobile, and 3rd parties stepped in to make it functional, bringing more users in the process. And now they’re trying to retcon history? Everything this guy says is bullshit

I was there for a day before I looked at the modlog and saw all of the deleted posts/comments that didn’t even say anything racist/xenophobic, but they simply said they don’t like/trust the Chinese government. Most even said they don’t trust the US government either, but that doesn’t matter to them if you don’t like China or Russia. I for one don’t like most governments, definitely not the US all of the time. But anyone that doesn’t blindly accept whatever the Chinese government says gets banned from the lemmy.ml instance because that’s “orientalism”. Crazy

You can’t convince them you don’t hate Chinese citizens before they call you a racist and downvote you to oblivion.
