… The social media site… For forums?!
Agreed. Sure, that stuff is missing, but I really loved going to Reddit to read things, funnily enough.
Jerry seems like he’s still just trying to put out fires and get fedia running smoothly, it appears like we’re almost there, and then I can only assume he’ll be able to talk big picture at that point.
Its doing that on and off for me. I think it’s got to be linked to the magazines that throw 500 errors. For instance, if you try to look at your subs and that first page contains a post that would’ve federated from one of the magazines throwing a 500 error, it just throws a 500 for that whole sub page. Just my assumption.
you are the tops, jerry
This is the main point, I think. There should probably be a list on each instance of what instances are blocked and why. As it is now you have to realize that things aren’t federating correctly yourself, then you’re left with a list of questions… Is this a bug? Is this an accident and someone needs to add something or flip a switch? Is this on purpose, if so, when did that happen/change and why and will it ever be reversed?
This lack of easily accessed information on what will federate or not, and to who just creates confusion, frustration, and allows for rampant speculation and possible misinformation, all things you really want to not have in general.
Hopefully this isn’t redundant info, but you can browse other instance magazines through your native instance, for example fedia.io/m/gaming@beehaw.org should allow you to see beehaw’s gaming community content through Fedia, allowing you to use your Fedia account.
However, seems like content is not showing up here very well due to the servers being temporarily maxed out, according to Jerry’s post anyway
Seems like you can look at the link to the post that should have an “@instancenamehere.com”. So far that’s how I’ve been checking post origination, but it’d be nice to have that built into the UI.
It horrifies me how many people have likely already deleted their accounts and inadvertently deleted context for a bunch of posts.
Thanks for the Veloren recommendation, I liked Cube World, it just didn’t work out well.
Love the lit up name, really nice color combo
