Go look in those communities. There’s MAYBE one post I can see you could consider “QAnon” type stuff. The rest are just general conspiracy related posts.

Yes, I know, opposing viewpoints are something small little minds like your own can’t possibly tolerate. Now run back to your safe space where everyone agrees with you and gives you constant validation!
Oh, yes, because the opinions are different than yours, they’re automatically vile, filled with hate, and I’m a bigot.
It’s sad how closed minded and small people like you are.
Apparently they can block specific communities from other instances though, which is what they have done in this case.
It’s the beauty, but I can also see how it could end up being a negative. So one instance blocks two other instances you like. So you move to a new instance that doesn’t. But then it turns out that new instance blocks two different ones that you also like. Can you imagine how as things grow, and with so much potential for selective blocking like this, it could quickly become quite a maze to simply find a place to browse the ENTIRR community, without having to deal with multiple logins across multiple instances?
Well, good to see the people who can’t possibly read opposing opinions to their own have made it here from reddit.
Yeah ok man.
You do realize that conspiracy is far more than qanon stuff, right? It was an interesting sub to read from time to time on Reddit.
And yeah, I get “just run your own instance”, but not everyone wants to deal with their own instance just to be able to freely browse communities without random censorship. I was hoping Lemmy wouldn’t be that way. Don’t know what it is about some people being so unable to tolerate opposing views from their own…
This isn’t a community where I feel it’s appropriate to get into those kind of topics. You’re welcome to PM me if you’re actually curious what I’m talking about.
But regardless, I was hoping Lemmy would be a good space for free thought. But it’s quickly turning out not to be that way.
Well the more worrying part is someone in another response said this was the lemmy.world mods banning those subs from appearing on lemmy.world.
Makes me wonder about lemmy honestly. They’re making it very difficult to find an instance that is 1) reliable, 2) open to free speech and thought. With instances randomly blocking others, blocking certain communities, etc…
I mean, am I going to have to spin up my own instance just to browse Lemmy without random censorship of other instances and communities?
Sure is looking that way already. I had such high hopes for Lemmy being a more open community…but that’s already quickly turning out to not be the case.
Wow. Honestly this makes me seriously contemplate my move to Lemmy. I thought lemmy.world was at least a free speech endorsing server. So now we have the two biggest Lemmy instances out there that are clearly against free speech. Lemmy.ml is moderated by pro CCP mods that remove anything anti-china, and lemmy.world can’t even tolerate a sub about conspiracy theories (which we should all know have a tendency of coming true the past few years) and is therefore already starting with stifling free speech.
Yeah, go start your own instance… Not everyone wants to run their own instance just to be able to browse communities on other instances that your current instance doesn’t agree with.
Yeah… This is really putting a sour taste in my mouth about Lemmy already.
So… from what I’m getting from that post… everyone likes to talk shit about reddit having a big ownership from a Chinese company that is exerting Chinese censorship on reddit… and now we’re (well, I’m registered at lemmy.world, but subscribe to a lot of communities on .ml) sitting here on an alternate site that… is ALSO exerting Chinese censorship! 😂
I said in my post that unless there’s rules elsewhere I’m just not seeing, the rules on the main instance sidebars for #3 simply say “no porn”. So what does that have to do with conspiracy theory communities?
I’m aware. But when I look at server rules that simply don’t apply what-so-ever to the community removals, and these being some of the largest Lemmy instances out there currently, it just makes me concerned about the moderation currently going on.
From what I’ve seen on other posts about this, it’s simply a current bug in the system. If it shows Subscribe Pending, you’re subscribed successfully, that button just still shows pending even though it’s working as it should. And you’ll only see this on subs on other federated instances, not on your own.
This page on Torrent Galaxy has become my RARBG replacement. Shows new releases without having to sort through all the garbage.
I honestly have no idea why bidets haven’t taken off in the US. After travelling to other countries though, had to buy one for my home toilet. And now I hate having to poop elsewhere where there’s no bidet.
Or it will just kill Beehaw because they’re now cut off from most of the other larger lemmy instances. Unless their users are just super loyal for some reason. If I were a member there I would have already jumped ship.
Well, yeah, but is that really how instances are going to handle moderation? A single post they don’t like in a community on another instance and they just block that entire community from their instance? Seems pretty heavy handed.
Not sure how on mobile, but on the computer you would have to visit a different instance in order to view one of those communities, and of course if you want to actually participate in it, you would have to create a second Lemmy login on that new instance.
