    Or I can pay nothing and get a plain video file that I can do anything I want with, and play on any device without needing a player. And as long as I keep that file backed up somewhere, I’ll always have a copy of it.

    The TV business is struggling to learn the lesson the music industry learned a long time ago.

      Increasingly it feels like the film and TV industries are run by dumb people stuck in the 80s or something.

      I recall Soderbergh talking about, in his “retirement” such I think, how studios and execs got weird at some point as they became increasingly populated by people who didn’t understand the art form and were just business people.

      Managerialism may have just about ruined the world.
