Boomer discontent was dealt with by giving them a lot of what they wanted, obviously there was a pretty big stick to go along with the carrot but they benefited from capitalism more than any generation before them.
But the point of that compromise was that future generations were going to be fucked by a world where everything is privatised and everyone is a rent serf.
So how is millenial/genz discontent going to be dealt with?
Boomers are almost already defeated in the electoral system, eg Corbyn, Sanders. We know from how the status quo responded that even the milquetoast socialism they offered is totally unacceptable.
Are there gonna be 60s style social engineering programs (mkUltra/chaos/gladio etc); are we going to get some kind of rentier UBI, are they just going to override democracy for as long as they can? There will be some kind of co-ordinated attempts to deal with the fact the that ‘young’ (really it’s more like everyone under 40) just absolutely do not want what there selling, even if they haven’t reached the point of properly organising to oppose it yet.
As for Israel specifically, they bet their whole future on permanent US support, the current conflict alone would be unsustainable without US aid. Seems like a bad bet with both the far right and the left eroding the power of mainstream America
Yes. Though I would also point out that POC opinion is basically within the margin of error of the same result. Makes me even angrier that people like Juliana Marguiles can say that black folks only support Palestine because they’re brainwashed and feel comfortable walking around in public, and otherwise face zero consequences.

i’ve lost track at the number of polls i’ve seen like this throughout the decades as one of the eldest millennials and the biggest take away from every single one is that the ancient adage that we start to track conservatives as we age still mostly holds true. (i’m not sure if i should be glad that i missed the memo).
if things stay on the same course then political leanings will change; but watching Palestinian support drop from the high 60’s in the late 1990’s/early 2000’s into the mid 40’s today from the millennial cohort and watching genz do the same thing makes me believe that this country will be forced to change before our politics ever do.
There would be some change but generally the shift is not occurring in the way it did with boomers. The reason people get more conservative as they age is that their wealth/material conditions improve, which has pretty fucked implications for humanity under capitalism I guess, but also Millenials are not getting their share of the pie and the truth is they never will (there will never be a mass transfer of wealth from boomers to Millenials - watch house prices crash as soon as the boomer grip on society disappears).
Gen X moved right to a lesser extent than Boomers, Millenials are shifting right far less than Gen X did.

i’m using Wikipedia’s definition of millennial and we turned 18 in 1999; definitely still children, but legally adults in most cases.
85 or 86 is a better cutoff than 81, if you were born between 75 and 84 you grew up in the 80’s and were thus gen X
