I mean, we aren’t using it in the literal sense here. Literally, a trifecta is when you correctly guess the first three finishers in a race, in the correct order.

Now, if you had a propensity for blocking people who spoke about Elon, and you had a propensity for blocking people who spoke about reddit, and you had a propensity for blocking people who linked to paywalled articles, then you could colloquially say that OP “hit the trifecta”, and “won” a ban.

Offhand, I can’t think of a specific word where two instigating factors invite a specific response. I’m sure there is one, but I am equally sure that word is not “trifecta”.

Something in your head is broken, and I am still 100% fine with you not wrapping your head around my use of the term… but your stunning lack of awareness regarding the plastic nature of the English language is absolutely a stark contrast against your otherwise seemingly well thought out verbiage defending your position.

Yes, Webster, congrats on understanding the origin of the term, being a portmanteau of “triple” and “perfecta”. 100 points for this. You are docked just as many fake points, however, for not being up to speed on the more recent (colloquial) use case where any collection of 3 things, or ideas even, which are said to be complimentary to each other, are said to be a trifecta.

Nobody gives a fuck about horse racing terms. We do love ways to group like items still however.

The best colloquial term for that rant is probably “doubling down”.

You are correct on one thing: I have not heard that phrase used in the manner in which you describe.

I do find it hard to believe that you haven’t heard the term outside of the initial portmanteau, so I suppose you could say i’m trifecting down.

go trifuckyourself if you’re trolling me (i dont think you are, but i couldn’t quickly find another excuse to use the term, apologies)

I suppose you could say that, but no, I could not.

You could if you had faith in yourself. My momma always said “Jeff, you could do anything you want if you weren’t so damned stupid”. That’s why I never had faith in myself.
