Hello fellow serfs. You don’t own your car, your phone, or your communications. Freedom and democracy are dead. I despise my country.

Freedom and democracy are only dead if you stop fighting for it. Keep voting. Keep protecting your privacy as best you can. Do everything you can to speak out against bullshit like this.

The only ‘democracy’ in the US is a democracy between corporate interests and property owners, in the model of Athenian democracy where only non-slaves had political influence.

Your message isn’t reaching the right audience. And I think that’s the person you are commenting to’s point.

that [Honda] beginning in at least 2014 infotainment systems in the company’s vehicles began downloading and storing a copy of all text messages on smartphones when they were connected to the system.

    Wow. That seems crummy.

It would be nice if congress passed some stricter consumer privacy protection laws, but they’ll probably just try to ban encryption instead.

I thought cars couldn’t get worse than replacing buttons with touchscreens, but it looks like I was wrong.

Don’t rely on corporations to protect your privacy. Ever. Use freeware and open-source software to protect it yourself.
