San Francisco is working on a plan to replace the city's public trash cans. Prototypes they're looking at testing will cost in the neighborhood of $20,000 apiece.
Here in Portland we have the opposite. The trash cans downtown let you put in cans so they can be easily removed. Unfortunately people still dump out the trash sometimes when they are searching for cans, but I much prefer our way. And of course bigger picture it is awful that anyone is reduced to that level of existence.
