I’ve noticed those numbers are completely arbitrary.

It’s not always just a scam either I’ve seen it be just as wrong in thenother direction and say 20% of $60 is like $9.

Just move the decimal one place and double it

Aside from the obvious maths errors paying for things in the US is hell. Total toss up whether your foreign card will work, contactless payment even less consistent, and then there is paying in restaurants like this where they take your card away somewhere. Please come back with that. And then on top of that many places ive been in states seem to find it impossible to split cheques ??

Not to mention ATMs are needlessly hard to come across. In Canada practically every club or bar has an ATM inside it, but apparently I’m an idiot for assuming this sensical and useful practice is a thing in the states.

Literally just had this problem like a month ago when I visited family in the States. Tried to buy food at a restaurant and my card declined. Called the bank, and they spent about 90 minutes trying to figure it out and the answer they came to was, “There’s no reason we can figure out that it doesn’t work, it just doesn’t.” Bruh.

I’d write “Hamas are freedom fighters and you are a bunch of fascist genocide apologists who deserve the utmost condemnation” and walk out.
