    Is it just me, or does $8k seem like a really small amount of money for hiring a hitman? Did they have a coupon?

      People are dumb. I’ve seen cop shows where they pay the “hitman” $500-$2K for a hit.

      That seems about right if the hitman is local, it’s a small area, and they’re just starting out. You get that word of mouth advertising going then you can start charging a higher rate, charging for travel, and making a real living.

      Reading the source, it appears that 8k was only a 50% downpayment:

      Wan then electronically transferred a 50% downpayment of approximately $8,000 worth of Bitcoin to the dark web marketplace.
