Honestly, I didn’t see much to hype over. There’s no assurance AC6 won’t be Souls slow; and it still doesn’t look like there’s any pvp fps on the horizon that don’t bootlick the military. I’m already flush and replete with co-op fps that doesn’t really scratch any itches for me.
Hades 2. But… Im not a pvp fps fan for exactly the reason you mentioned.
I cant imagine why AC6 would be Souls slow. I bet it will certainly have that “deliberate” feel; but we should expect different leg variants will have different kinds of mobility.
Itll never happen but a pvp FPS set in the Disco Elysium universe would be cool.
Judas also looked very nice.
Have you checked out Squad? I hear they did an update that lets you play as the PLA.
My problem was that I was brought into multiplayer gaming via Doom, Quake, and Unreal. You could no more divorce me from gravitating to pvp fps than you could make water un-wet-- but as a result, that makes for a very niche itch to scratch that seemingly no one can hit anymore-- and my animus towards military spectacle is less about being American, and more about killing the people of any recognizable real-world nation. This is a lot of why I like Ace Combat so much-- it’s not the real world. The fighters might be real-world replicas, but it’s not a recognizable nation or people dogfighting.
Sure, the matter of the vast majority of the genre being CIA/NSA/DEA/ATF/DoD funded interactive propaganda caches is a major part of my animus-- but I can’t do realworld settings for my shoots anymore; whether they’re recorded history or long-shot fiction. With regard to my concerns for Armored Core, there’ve been a couple molasses slow entries in the series up til now, and by now, all I recognize From as is “the Souls people”, and I’m more a Devil May Cry, MGR kind of guy than Dad of Boi or Elden Ring.
(And with regard to roguelites, I’m already MONDO flush on those, and the ones I liked, the development studios either closed or won’t return to the concepts they laid out.)
I feel your pain. Quake 1 and Quake 3 Arena was sick. And Unreal Tournament was maybe the best FPS Ive ever played.
Quake Champions was a fuck. Something bothers the shit out of me by turning it into a hero shooter. And Overwatch and Team Fortress isnt my jam either.
Quake Champions was the brainchild of Tim Willits; and as a result, doesn’t even deserve to be called Quake afaic. TF2(and all source shooters not called Tribes) is way too slow, and Actiblizz is still helmed by the devil Bobby Kotick. I wouldn’t even consider Overwatch as the “you’re the last closest shooter” until he’s gone at the very least.

Unfortunately… Unreal Tournament is being remade; but it’s open source community made. So it’s going to take a long time.
