Maybe. They’re still trying to find a cure for light beams shining out of your head syndrome. One day a female scientist will find it.

If you’ll allow me to mansplain, I think it’s about bone porosity, it’s a trade-off. You can absorb more information without impedance, but you have to deal with being very shiny and reliant on protective gear. Consumption of bone hurting juice is highly conducive to elevated intelligence, but has side effects. It is the mental steroid.

Sorry to say, but I haven’t met a single female who wouldn’t vacate the area if discussion turned to resent science headlines.

Reveals their sexism, misogny, ignorance, and believes women can’t be intelligent like men based on no evidence except what they believe.

      Can’t even spell “recent” correctly.

This list is far from complete. Emmy Noether, Babara McClintock, Ada Lovelace, Valentina Tereshkova…

I do think less girls are in the tech, especially mathematics. It could be mysogynistic, but my mother explains this as that most girls are less adept at highly specialized areas, compared to men.

Could be a bell curve thing, idk.

Less women and girls make it into tech for a wade variety of reasons, not the least of which is the conditioning she receives (whether directly or indirectly) that plays a huge part in career choices. Many girls are not given the same opportunities as the boys because “it’s a waste, they’re just going to become mothers anyways”. Many girls are not pushed into STEM courses and programs because of outdated and wrong assumptions like “girls are bad at math” or “girls aren’t interested in science”, and so aren’t given the same attention as their male peers in these classes that they’re required to take. As a result, teachers with these inherent beliefs won’t present the same options to the girls as they do the boys.

Did you know that the term “scientist” was originally coined to describe a woman interested in science?

Oh. I thought I talked exclusively about math, but I wasn’t. I guess cultural norms are still heavily influencing everything.

By the way, is it possible that the connotation of “nerds” is driving girls away?

It’s not biological, it’s social and cultural. Women are low-key conditioned to think and/or state that they are more dependent and not as smart. It’s shitty.

Just out of interest. How did you interpret my post that women can’t do science?

Women generally don’t just care. Same with cars and other engineering stuff. Does NOT mean women can’t do technology, nor that there are no female mechanics or engineers.

        Cultural thing?

If you look a little deeper it appears they may be making a genuine observation. If the spelling is any indication of education it would suggest they may not know any women who care about science. If they really are discussing “resent” science headlines and they’re spelling recent incorrectly they are either teenagers, an adult male from a low socioeconomic area leading to poor education outcomes or a mixture.

It’s also possible the ‘headlines’ they’re discussing are cryptobro bullshit or that debunked pos that said women panic more about bad news than men. You start citing ‘scientific research’ that sounds like Tate’s wet dream, it’s gonna clear the room faster than cabbage farts

I think most people would vacate the area if you started discussing your resent of science. I’m guessing you’re some sort of religious fundamentalist?

Exactly. For @random_character_a@lemmy.world , he doesn’t recognize the reason why women vacate the area around him. (For instance, he calls them “females” rather than women).

The reason why women vacate the area around him is because they can immediately tell he’s someone to avoid, and thus avoid him.
