I bought my psp back when I was in high school but I barely used it because emulation was pretty good and I also liked how it allowed you to mimic playing the games with the cpu forced at 333 mhz without having to mod the console. I currently have no use for the psp because every game I own emulates fine. I gave it to her thinking that it still worked fine but it keeps having issues.
First, it keeps randomly acting like she’s hitting the home button (it asks her if she wants to quit the game). I know she isn’t accidently hitting it because it also happened to me when I tried it out after she told me about it. It just randomly happens and if I select no, sometimes it just pops right back up. Selecting no causes the game to have to reload (it keeps track of where she is but still has to reload the area.) So far the only game she’s played was gta vcs, she has no interest in any other game I own.
Second, the disk drive either stops working or just doesn’t turn on when the psp boots. If it doesn’t start when the psp boots it will start if I open and close it. When it stops while in game, it makes a clicking sound and then starts back up almost immediately. This issue might also be related to the first issue.
Lastly, sometimes when it starts it asks for the time and date even though I’ve already setup the time and date before. It doesn’t affect the save though, so this issue is just a minor annoyance.
To anyone who sees this, I was able to fix the first two issues. They were both caused by the psp thinking the disk tray wasn’t closed properly. There is a little bar that is supposed to be pressed by the umd but is wasn’t pressed down all the way. I put some tape on it to keep it held down, and that fixed both issues.
