    I don’t like that the title kinda implies that she’s in an entry level in-store job and glosses over a promotion/move. She took a $20k paycut at first and then pivoted to use her work experience to get a corporate position. She was also earning $47k in rural-ish Georgia vs. $70k outside Seattle. Median household income in Athens is $40k, in Issaquah it’s $142k.

    Theres really nothing feel good about this. A bump to $70k is cool but having to move to one of the most expensive suburbs in the country is gonna wipe out all spending power. Plus now she has to deal with more traffic, more expensive food and more expensive childcare.

    Teachers are still paid like shit but now its used as a recruiting tool by Costco. Very few people will make the corporate team in Washington but desperate people will read this and try.

    Never love your job or make it part of your identity; your boss will just use your love as a tool to pay you less.
