    Never thought or talked about this, but I have a question now.

    Trans women, should we keep calling you trans women, or just women?

      Just women, unless there is a very specific and meaningful reason to make the distinction (like when discussing trans rights for instance).

      It’s important to remember that every time you refer to someone as a trans woman, not only are you othering them from the category of woman, you’re also outing them as trans, a thing that should never be done on someone’s behalf.

      Edit: for instance, take a look at any article about a trans artist. The article will always talk about how the person is a trans artist. Is the subject of the art transness? Doesn’t matter, they’re still a trans artist and not an artist. This fucking sucks.

        This was what I was thinking as well. I call every trans person I know just by their preferred gender without the trans part, as that makes the most sense.

        I think I got confused because the trans part is often added online.
