To add to this Japan’s court system is fucked beyond belief which so much stock being placed in the status quo and the infallibility of the system that if a court case is found later to be false and that the person was wrongly convicted (even with direct proof), the courts will not overturn the conviction as it reflects badly on the courts meaning if you are wrongly convicted in Japan you are going to prison regardless. No overturn etc apparently.
