On android you can change not only the bubble color, but the bubble color for each contact individually, and you can even change the entire messaging app itself to a new one. Takes care of that problem right quick.
I think it also means it’s encrypted through their program but being incompatible with at least 70% of the marketshare isn’t winning any awards in my book.
