That sub LOOOOVEs to hate Hong Kong. What they can never, ever, answer is this: what the hell is Hong Kong supposed to do other than high density housing? They have a crazy high population and very little space (reminder that it’s HK that wants the restricted border with Mainland China, mostly because they don’t want mainlanders moving there, but it also means HKers can’t easily move to the mainland if they think it’s too crowded). Anyway, people need and deserve housing, and given the population density, housing density of this magnitude is simply necessary. Or would you rather have an American style suburb for half the city and the other half just a giant vagrant slum? Oh wait you’d post about the slum too, which would be reasonable, except you’d definitely be asking “why can’t they all just have their own detached house with built-in garages like we all have in Fuckingnowheredale USA???”

Basically, it’s blind hatred because it looks ugly (subjective BTW, I like it), and I’m sure some China hate is in there too, but as soon as you ask them to come up with an alternative, they simply can’t.

Urban density is the best solution for the environment, suburban sprawl is the absolute worst.
