The upvote-downvote feature is the worst mechanic to plague social media.
I mean there is some truth to what the article is getting at. But it’s all about asking the questions the right way, and knowing how to filter the information. It’s also about knowing what resources are at your disposal to answer your questions.
interesting, I agree and disagree. I agree that in huge sub-reddits people are asshats. In smaller communities that are moderated than I usually have very good conversations with people. The trick is the rules and moderation keep it sane.
you can get decent answers on reddit. vote farming and hive mentality is usually a bigger problem in bigger subreddits. in subs like /r/linuxquestions i haven’t been inconvenienced by these.
