Yeah I don’t get why other places do this lol.

Might as well just… not implement it if you’re gonna hide it from 99% of the people, just because some chuddies are gonna froth from it.

Like, you can’t have your cake and eat it.

They do it specifically for the chuddies. The point is to get the W from the lgbt crowd while ultimately making it a feature that is 100% ignorable. They don’t mind that they froth from it so long as it doesn’t result in them actively not using the site at all, and they’re happy to keep using the site as long as it remains ignorable.

As usual it’s performative action by rainbow capitalism.

Libs get easily manipulated into believing things like pronouns shouldn’t be visible for ??? reasons. Despite it being vastly nicer for anyone that isn’t cis male. It’s way nicer for women to actually have visibility compared to the “there are no women on the internet” mindset.

I feel like I’ve lost a sense when browsing other sites. it’s valuable info on the perspective others are bringing to the table. I think it benefits the cis men also.

I wonder if, given how many liberals are TERFs, they don’t actually want to show pronouns visibly to push back on that “there are no women on the internet” mindset specifically because a trans woman’s “she/her” is the same as their “she/her”.

Maybe? I can’t tell if any women push back against it at all or if it’s all men. Mostly because we have no indication. This is one factor I imagine plays a part, faceless voices online with no link to age, background, class, sexuality or gender which are all things you get in real life make the online opinion machine a black box for people that aren’t terminally online who have gathered other indicators of certain things in the online space (financebros, crypto etc indicating class for one example)
