even Bukele, a megalomanic with more or less unlimited domestic political power, is now backing off this bitcoin shit after the IMF showed him what it would do the Salvadoran economy (in a JFK-assassination-video-from-another-angle-style I imagine).
He’s pivoting back to good old gold mining now, though that’s even more domestically unpopular than the bitcoin since all metal mining has been banned in el Salvador since 2017.
