I used to troll Reddit Nazis this way years ago. It was funny to see them twist themselves into knots trying to justify why we shouldn’t do to men what they were advocating doing to racial minorities.

Okay but seriously, despite being only 49% of the population, men commit almost 90% of all murders. And that’s not arrests, that’s convictions. The vast majority of serial killers, abusers, and so on are men. By far the more violent and dangerous demographic.

I wonder how much of that is just because men are bigger and stronger, most of the time. Like, if women were the larger and more powerful sex would the odds be different? As it stands, men being bigger and stronger means women being scared of a man attacking them is entirely rational.

Like absent any discussion of social conditioning or patriarchal norms or history or statistics just on a raw analysis of size and strength it seems that yeah, fairly reasonable and not “misandry” for women to worry about a man doing something bad to them. Even if the odds of an attack from a man or a woman were 100% equal the man would be the more dangerous attacker.

Most murders in the US are done with handguns. I’m sure even out of shape women are totally capable of committing murder.

Even considering size, there’s a huge overlap between women and men in size. Plenty of men are the height and weight of an average woman. But they don’t seem to be as fearful of walking alone and they aren’t significantly less likely to commit murder themselves. It’s a complex situation, but I think the biggest factor is the relationship between violence and patriarchy.

No, not at all. A trained fighter would absolutely crush me. I was just musing on how it’s not misandry in the original post and I think I articulated it poorly.
